Book Love

Autumn and Winter book releases (October – December)

There’s something about this time of year that makes me want to cosy up with a good book, wrapped in a blanket with a plate of salted caramel cookies, especially after a cold, crisp walk through the woods.

So, naturally, I’ve been looking ahead at all the books I’ll want to get my hands on this autumn and winter. Here’s my list of anticipated reads coming out between October and December 2026 — from cosy romances and magical adventures to thrillers, thought-provoking memoirs and emotional stories about friendship and family.

Now I just need to decide which ones are making it onto the pre-order list…

Call Off The Dark by Hallie Shepherd

Expected 5th October

This sounds chilling and thrilling, with a storyline that has me very intrigued.

After her soul-mate is murdered, Helen impulsively marries a near-stranger and starts a completely new and remote life, only for the new husbands mysterious brother to suddenly appear – who is supposed to be dead.

Helen starts questioning who she can trust, and whether she’s losing her grip on reality.

This sounds so intriguing to me!

A Witch in Nottingham Hill by Alexandra Paige

Expected 10th October

This sounds like the perfect cosy read for warm, magical feels!

When witch Willow accidentally turns her manager into a cat, she heads to London to find a rare spell that can undo the magic, only to end up teaming up with grumpy occult bookstore owner Oliver, who doesn’t even believe in magic.

As they travel around London with a group of friends (and a cat!) searching for the spell, I’m hoping there’s plenty of romance and mischief along the way. Notting Hill is one of my favourite places in London, so I’m also really hoping this gives me all the Notting Hill the film vibes — another absolute favourite of mine!

Peck & Peck by Bonnie Garmus

Expected 13th October

I have seen this make a few Youtuber’s anticipated book lists, so had to take a closer look.

As someone who writes poetry myself, this one immediately intrigued me…

Set in 1980s New York, it follows Batter, a young man with an unusual “ear” for poetry, who lands a job at the world’s most prestigious poetry journal. But behind the literary success is a completely dysfunctional workplace, feuding twin editors, thirty-nine eccentric editors and a very ruthless approach to finding the next great poem.

It sounds quirky, chaotic and completely different from anything else on my autumn TBR.

I Never Knew You At All by by Christine Pride and Jo Piazza

Expected 13th October

Firstly… love the cover! The pinks and greens, yes please. I also seem to be very drawn to covers featuring tables, chairs, wine and food, so this one immediately caught my eye!

The story sounds just as intriguing, following Simone, who has given up her career ambitions for a comfortable life with her wealthy husband, Alex. But when her ex-boyfriend Kwame arrives in town investigating the decades-old murder of a young Black man connected to Alex’s elite family, Simone finds herself caught between protecting the family she married into and seeking justice.

Secrets, a murder mystery and a marriage being put to the test? I’m intrigued.

A Court of Splintered Harmony by Sarah J. Maas

Expected 27th October

Like everyone else who loves a little bit of hot fantasy, I am SO excited for the ACOTAR series to continue!

The sixth book sees Koschei the Deathless stirring once again, with the Night Court facing new threats, old betrayals and a very divided Prythian.

It sounds like it’s going to be steamy, epic and full of danger and intrigue, and honestly… get me on that pre-order list now!

Will and Attention: A memoir of addiction and recovery by Meghan O’Gieblyn

Expected 5th November

I really enjoy reading memoirs, and I’ve read quite a few now exploring recovery and addiction, so this one immediately caught my attention.

It also has a personal interest for me because addiction and recovery are areas I’ve explored through my podcast projects, and I spent a lot of time working in recovery services become I became a freelancer.

This memoir looks at the author’s relapse into alcohol addiction alongside her unexpected return to religion, and the questions these experiences raise about our choices, compulsions and whether we can ever truly understand ourselves.

It sounds deep, honest and thought-provoking, and I’m really intrigued to read it.

Whale Harbour by Mary Beth Keane

Expected 5th November

I loved the author’s previous novel, Ask Again, Yes, so I had to take a look at her latest.

This sounds very different from her previous book, but just as poignant.

Set in a small fishing village in Connemara in 1963, it follows brothers who are separated after tragedy forces them to leave home and build new lives across the world.

I’m particularly intrigued by Rian’s disappearance and the mystery surrounding what happened to him, as well as the small fishing-town setting. It sounds like a really warm, emotional story about family, loss and the things that stay with us across generations.

The Squatters by Saba Brelvi

Expected 10th November

Firstly, what a beautiful cover!

This is one that I think could really challenge me as a reader, but it’s one I genuinely want to pick up.

The Squatters explores immigration, asylum, belonging and the lengths we’re willing to go to help someone in need, and feels particularly relevant to the political and social conversations happening around us today.

I think there’s a lot I could learn and grow from in reading this, even if it’s uncomfortable or challenging in places. I’m definitely intrigued by Dalia’s story and how one act of kindness spirals into something much bigger.

Fetal Position by Carolyn Huynh

Expected 6th December

This sounds like an episode of Black Mirror, so yes please! It sounds completely insane, a little terrifying and, weirdly, a little relatable — and I genuinely have no idea what to expect from this one.

In a near-future world where loneliness and falling birth rates are on the rise, burnt-out corporate worker Lena is invited to join Hatch, a company offering women a seemingly perfect life: a beautiful home, a robot butler and freedom from work, in exchange for becoming pregnant with a male match’s sperm.

But when women around her start disappearing, Lena begins to question what she’s really signed up for and races to uncover the truth. Robots, reproductive control, disappearing women and a company deciding who deserves love? Absolutely terrifying.

Lina and June by Genevieve Wheeler

Expected 27th December

I love stories about best friends, so this one immediately caught my attention.

Lina and June couldn’t be more different, but after meeting at university, they become inseparable, until June’s health takes an unexpected turn and Lina leaves for Paris, sending their friendship down very different paths. I

t sounds like a really poignant exploration of friendship, girlhood, growing apart and finding your way back to each other.

I have a feeling this one could be an emotional read!

Looking back at this list, there’s a real mix of books I’m excited to get stuck into this autumn — from cosy witchy romances and steamy fantasy, to psychological thrillers, family dramas, memoirs about addiction and recovery, and thought-provoking stories exploring immigration, friendship and belonging. There are definitely a few books here that I think could challenge me, a few that could completely break my heart, and a few that I’m expecting to be pure escapism.

But now I’m craving a fantasy read that feels perfect for this season – something cosy and atmospheric, perhaps with a slightly darker edge. Give me magic, mystery, autumnal vibes and just enough darkness to keep me turning the pages late into the night.

So, if you have any recommendations, please leave me a comment and let me know what I should be reading! I’m very ready to add more books to the TBR…
